To paraphrase the section leading up to the civil war, prior conflicts such as events like bleeding Kansas had already created tension and a war like atmosphere between the north and the south. Which led to battles and both sides showing that they would fight to end slavery, or keep it. This helps prove the answer that the war was inevitable, because in a way it had already begun in smaller areas over the same growing issue. From ~ Give Me Liberty textbook by Eric Foner

Other Source 2 - Lincoln's Inauguration Address
In his address Lincoln States that he know that the south is not happy about his election, and he tries to clarify his party's meaning. Which is that republicans want to stop the addition of new slave states and they they do not want to interfere with the present slave states. This helps answer why the war was inevitable, because even after the South was told that their slaves would be left alone, the South fearing the Norths rise in power in the House, still wanted a complete split to end the discussion of no more slaves.

Other Source 3 - The Declaration of Causes of Seceding States
In this declaration it states how the southern states feel that the north has taken advantage of them ad used them over the decades and lists all the prior grievances. This support the answer because it shows that it wasn't just simply one issue or a few issues, it was a compilation of multiple issues that had occurred since the founding of the U.S that led to the split. So it isn't like just a few changes could have be made and a few more negotiations could have stopped the war, only delayed it.

Other Source 4 - Cornerstone Speech
In Alexander H. Stephens speech he states that the South is building a better, more free government. One that will not be controlled by outsiders, as the south viewed northerners. This shows that even if no prior conflicts had occurred, the south and north would have just kept continually viewing each other as opposing outsiders stopping them from their choice, and eventually separate causing war.

Other Source 5 - The Dred Scott Case
Although not a major conflict this did create tension between the north, and eventually led to Bleeding Kansas. The court case stated that "slaves were not citizens; therefore, slaves did not have the rights of a U.S. Citizen established in the Bill of Rights." This angered many Northerner because it meant that if slaves were simply property that the prevention of new slave states would be impossible. Which as stated earlier led some Northerner abolitionists to fight against slave owners in Kansas and caused a mini war creating much more tension in the South vs North conflict.
